THE BIRTH OF A NEW TRADITION
For many centuries, the ancient St. Nicholas Monastery in Zhydychyn has received pilgrims who come here for consolation and support, to pray before the wonderworking image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. Different petitions, different people. In the year 1223, King Daniel asked for wisdom for his governance
Today the people of God once again stand in prayerful vigil. This year, in intercessory prayer for victory and a just peace, not only the faithful of the monastery came to the Wonderworker. From now on a new tradition has been born here—representatives of the military chaplaincy of the National Guard and the border troops from all over Ukraine stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of God. They stood in prayer and in hope that the Lord hears us.
It is gratifying to note the organization and support from the leadership of the military chaplaincy of the National Guard of Ukraine, in the person of Colonel Oleksandr Izdebsky. His involvement and his attentiveness to the development of the chaplaincy service instill the conviction that, with spiritual care in the army, all will be well!
Two days of the pilgrimage left in the heart an incredible spiritual uplift and the hope that next year we will once again be able to meet and, in common prayer, give thanks to God that He does not abandon His people.
