SPIRITUALITY, EDUCATION, AND LEADERSHIP: THE ANCIENT ZHYDYCHYN MONASTERY WELCOMED THE COMMUNITY OF KYIV-MOHYLA BUSINESS SCHOOL
On July 4, 2026, leaders shaping the contemporary landscape of Ukrainian business, culture, and public life, who are currently members of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School (kmbs) community, visited the ancient Zhydychyn Monastery. The visit became a unique space for reflecting together on the fundamental values that sustain the resilience and future of the Ukrainian nation.
The central theme of the meeting was the urgent need for an open and sincere dialogue between spiritual institutions and the academic community. The monastery's abbot, Archimandrite Kostiantyn, warmly welcomed the guests and emphasized that genuine social progress is impossible without a strong foundation of values. He openly shared his personal journey of faith, spoke about the daily life and ministry of the monastic brotherhood, the development of the monastery's ongoing social initiatives, and the role of the Church in strengthening local communities.
"Today, more than ever, Ukraine needs a living dialogue between the Church and Education. Faith is not only about personal salvation—it is about responsibility for one's neighbor, about building strong communities, and about laying sound spiritual foundations for the future of our entire country," said Archimandrite Kostiantyn.
Another profound part of the discussion focused on the nature of leadership in today's world. Oleksandr Savruk, Dean of Kyiv-Mohyla Business School, shared his vision of developing the institutions that form the backbone of the Ukrainian state. Together with the participants, he reflected on the meaning of power and freedom for modern society, how national character is forged, and who ultimately becomes its principal architect in times of challenge.
The gathering in Zhydychyn proved to be inspiring, engaging, and intellectually enriching for everyone present. The shared reflections demonstrated that Ukraine's intellectual community and the monastic brotherhood speak the same language—the language of love for their homeland and commitment to its future. This visit marked the first step toward a broader long-term partnership between the monastery and kmbs, and it is already evident that this collaboration has the potential to become both lasting and fruitful.
The monastic community sincerely thanks its distinguished guests for their visit, their openness, and the meaningful conversations they shared. We firmly believe that the synergy of spiritual wisdom and high-quality education can become a powerful force capable of transforming our society and bringing Ukraine closer to a just and lasting peace.
